Oral Cancer Screenings
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 30,000 cases of oral cancer are diagnosed each year. The good news, though, is that caught early enough, oral cancer almost always responds to treatment, which is why dental check-ups are of such critical importance.
Cleanings & Prevention
Underlying every healthy, beautiful smile is a comprehensive program of preventive dental care, professional cleanings, and good brushing and flossing practices at home. At our office, we believe strongly in working cooperatively with you to preserve your natural teeth and prevent disease from developing.
- Examination of -rays. Radiographs (x-ray images) allow us to see decay and other issues not visible to the naked eye.
- Oral cancer screenings. We check thoroughly for any early signs of oral cancer, both visually and with a hi-tech screening device.
- Gum disease evaluation. We carefully examine your gums and the bone around your teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
- Examination of tooth decay. We check all teeth for cavities and signs of early decay, and we also examine existing fillings and crowns to make sure they remain in good shape.
At Prava Dental, we recognize that no less important than the health of your teeth is the way they look—after all, your smile is how you greet the world, and can make a huge impact on your overall appearance…
Crafted from incredibly thin porcelain, veneers are bonded directly to your teeth for a uniform, beautiful smile. Despite their thinness, they produce dramatic results and are custom-made for an incredibly natural-looking appearance.
Periodontal disease is disease of the gums and bone that surrounds the teeth. It is extremely common, and it’s been estimated that four out of five people have it and don’t know it. It can also be extremely serious,
Early-stage periodontal disease often presents with no symptoms, which is why regular check-ups and cleanings are so important. When symptoms do appear, they include pain and sensitivity in the gums, bleeding, swelling and redness, and gum loss (recession). The good news is that, when diagnosed, periodontal disease is usually easily treatable.
Root Canal Therapy
In some cases, decay can extend far into the tooth, leading to infection and pain. Rather than removing the tooth, a root canal can often save its structure, which is usually less expensive and less problematic in the long run than treating issues that can arise if the tooth is extracted.
Root canals typically take one or two appointments. The nerves, pulp (the spongy interior of the tooth), decay and bacteria are all removed, and the tooth is filled with a medicated solution that restores its proper function. Once the nerves are gone, so is any pain. Finally, most teeth with root canals are crowned to restore their original appearance.
Cosmetically, living with crooked teeth can be a source of annoyance and embarrassment. At the same time, living with traditional metal braces can be an equally unattractive option—especially for adults.
