At Prava Dental, we recognize that no less important than the health of your teeth is the way they look—after all, your smile is how you greet the world, and can make a huge impact on your overall appearance. That’s why we offer a number of cosmetic procedures that can help you achieve the smile of your dreams, while affording long-lasting dental health.

Porcelain Veneers

Crafted from incredibly thin porcelain, veneers are bonded directly to your teeth for a uniform, beautiful smile. Despite their thinness, they produce dramatic results and are custom-made for an incredibly natural-looking appearance.

Veneers can correct any number of cosmetic problems, including discoloration, misshapen and cracked teeth, crooked teeth, and gaps.

If you’re interested in veneers, we’ll be happy to discuss them with you to see if you’re a candidate and to help you design the smile of your dreams. When you’re ready, veneers typically only take two appointments—one to lightly buff (“prep”) your teeth and take impressions, and one to place them. Veneers are painless and can last for years with regular dental maintenance, giving you a radiant smile.

Composite Fillings

Fillings are a common dental procedure used to repair decay, cracks, and chips. At our office, the vast majority of fillings we do use composite, or tooth-colored material. Composite fillings blend in seamlessly with your surrounding tooth, so they’re completely invisible. Fillings take only one appointment, and anesthesia is used if necessary so they’re pain-free.

Porcelain Crowns (Caps)

Crowns (sometimes called “caps”) completely cover your tooth surface, and restore it to its original shape and size. Crowns are often necessary when a tooth can’t be properly treated with composite fillings, and can repair broken teeth, old fillings, severe decay, and teeth with root canals.

At Prava Dental, we almost always use porcelain for crowns, since it can be made to match your existing teeth for a completely natural-looking result. Crowns generally take two appointments. At the first, we’ll prepare your tooth to remove decay and accommodate the crown, take impressions (so it can be made to match your old tooth), and seat a temporary one. At the second appointment, we’ll place your permanent crown for a seamless fit.

Porcelain Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays are custom-made fillings that, when possible, are preferable to crowns, since they preserve more of your natural tooth structure. Our office almost always uses porcelain, since it can be matched to your surrounding teeth for a completely natural-looking result. Like crowns, inlays and onlays typically require two appointments—one to take impressions and prepare the tooth, and one for placement.

Porcelain Bridges

Porcelain bridges cover a gap in your smile where a tooth was lost or had to be removed. To seat a bridge, two crowns are placed—one on either side of the gap. The bridge consists of two crowns connected to an artificial tooth (or teeth) that fills the gap.

Like crowns, bridges are custom-designed to match your existing teeth and produce a seamless appearance. In many cases, however, dental implants may be a preferable alternative to a fixed bridge, so be sure to view our implants page.

Whitening

Teeth whitening is an easy, inexpensive cosmetic treatment that can produce dramatic results in a short time. Our office offers several whitening options to suit your needs and your budget, all of which will help brighten your smile.

  • One-hour laser whitening. For optimal—and immediate—results, laser whitening is an in-office treatment that takes about an hour and can lighten your teeth numbers of shades in just one appointment.
  • Take-home trays. We also offer at-home bleaching treatments, which are incredibly effective. We’ll create custom trays for you to wear at night, in which you’ll put a bleaching solution that will whiten your teeth over a couple of weeks.
  • Sheer White. Sheer White is our least expensive whitening option. Sheer White consists of prescription-strength strips applied directly to your teeth that typically produce better results than over-the-counter alternatives.
